Orange Scented Shortbread SnowBalls - 52 Cookie Recipes

Pin It Now!

OH BOY... COOKIES!

And these are more of an adult sugar cookie!  Just a bit of savory and Orange Infused sugar turns these into an amazing adult style cookie.

Just yesterday I posted a very easy ORANGE SUGAR recipe.  Just two ingredients but the combination changes these cookies from hints of orange to a POW of Orange!  It only takes a few minutes and really changes the taste.

Shortbread cookies are made without any Baking Powder or Baking Soda.  So these can become crispy and crumby if baked too long. So watch your cooking time and adjust as needed for your oven.

These can be made with powdered sugar for a snowball look.  Just change the sugar roll from pre-baked to post baked.

LOVE these!!!  Enjoy!

OK... Here's what I did...

Orange Scented Shortbread SnowBalls

Ingredients
  • 1 Cup Butter, Softened
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar (for more flavor, use Orange Infused Sugar)
  • 1 tsp Orange Extract
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • Additional 1 Cup Sugar (for snowball look, use Powdered Sugar, For Grown up Sugar Cookie look, Use Orange Infused Sugar)
Cooking Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, Prepare a Cookie Sheet with Parchment Paper.
  2. In the bowl of a Stand Mixer, beat together the Sugar and Butter until Creamy. Add the Orange Extract and Salt and mix again for a couple of minutes.
  3. Remove bowl from the Mixer and fold in the flour until just thoroughly mixed. Do not over mix.
  4. Roll one rounded teaspoon worth of the dough into a ball. Repeat (makes about 36 cookies)
  5. Roll each ball in the Orange Sugar. If making Powdered Sugar Snowballs, do this step after the cookies are baked.
  6. Arrange on a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Bake for 11 Minutes.
  7. Transfer to a cooling rack. These are amazing warm from the oven with a pot of tea (with a tsp of that Orange Sugar)... Enjoy!
